What inspired you to start your business?
I wanted more freedom, flexibility, and opportunities for myself and my family.
What is something you would say to someone who is struggling in their first few years of business? Is there something you struggled with and learned from in those first few years?
Give yourself permission to try, to fail, to learn, and to grow. Be patient with yourself. Don't worry about having everything figured out (hint: you never will!). Jump in and get started, especially when you don't have it all figured out. That's how you learn! Don't believe the toxic stories that creep up in your mind that tell you that you aren't good enough, smart enough, well-known enough. You are more capable than you believe. Work on your mindset and surround yourself with people who will support you, encourage you, and cheer you - you'll need them more than you know. Don't give up. Don't ever, ever give up.
What hobbies, causes, or activities are you passionate about aside from your work?
I'm a big advocate for being involved in your local community, even if you run an online business. I currently serve on the Junior Board of Directors for the YWCA of Southwest VA and Northeast TN, as well as the Board of Directors for Dare 2 Be You Recovery. I regularly teach a nine-week business development program for new entrepreneurs in our region called CO.STARTERS, which was started out of Chattanooga, TN, and support these entrepreneurs beyond the classroom as they start and grow their businesses around Northeast TN. In addition, I co-founded a local women in business mastermind group, where we support one another to grow our businesses together. As for hobbies, my husband, Mike, and I love to travel, kayak, and go to concerts, and of course, we love hanging out with our quirky rescue dog, Myla, who's always making us laugh!
