What inspired you to start your business?
Honestly, I left a position that I enjoyed with $3,000 in my pocket and no idea what business I was going to start. Quite the opposite of what most people do (and should do). In the 6 weeks of notice I gave to my job, I was able to secure $12,000 in monthly recurring revenue ALL based on the relationships I had built for the 2 years prior. Business is as simple as being able to solve people's problems. We tend to make it more complicated than that. I help solve the problem of messy day to day operations and that's what inspires me to serve like I do.
What is something you would say to someone who is struggling in their first few years of business? Is there something you struggled with and learned from in those first few years?
Stop thinking of yourself as a one woman corporation. We all say, "Oh I'm the janitor to the CEO." That's dangerous language! Taking on the identity of being the marketing department, sales department, financial department, PR department isn't going to help you with feeling overwhelmed. I simplified my "departments" into growth and fulfillment which DRAMATICALLY helped me work a lot faster in my business. Also, I created batch days for myself so I wasn't playing a daily game of whackamole with all my tasks.
What hobbies, causes, or activities are you passionate about aside from your work?
I love to do 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzles + binge on Gilmore Girls episodes every fall. I also LOVE to travel and this past year went to Canada twice, Mexico and Costa Rica. Later this year, I will go to Poland, Czech Republic and Switzerland. I also LOVE taking my 1 year old cavapoo, Vivienne, on walks. Also game nights as my house are pretty epic - 20 people playing Taboo? It's a riot.
