What inspired you to start your business?
I didn't know I would have my own business two years ago. After resigning from my role as a Vice Principal I started to think about how I wanted to spend the rest of my life. It has always been my goal to live a passion-filled and purposeful life which is why I stayed in the teaching profession for so long.At this pivotal place in my career, where I resigned, I had to decide what was next and what fueled me about the work.I came across the book Dream Year and I was inspired to think about my passions outside of teaching and that's when I started exploring financial coaching. At the time I did not know the title for my role but I had a Google Doc full of ideas from a brain dump earlier in the year. I wanted to fuse my passion for teaching and love of personal finances to help others stress less about money and that's how Wealth Over Now was born. The whole thing literally came together in just a few weeks.
What is something you would say to someone who is struggling in their first few years of business? Is there something you struggled with and learned from in those first few years?
Be consistent. Don't compare your success to others. Write down your wins every week. Living in a world that is driven by social media it's easy to start comparing yourself to others but comparison is truly the thief of joy. Remember to show up for your clients and show up authentically.
What hobbies, causes, or activities are you passionate about aside from your work?
I love traveling, Crossfit, and spending time with family. I am also passionate about education because there are so many students who are not getting access to equitable instruction each and every day.
