What inspired you to start your business?
My first business (Because of Zoe) began because I wanted a way to create hair bows for my daughter.I soon loved sharing them with women online and that grew into a business that led to me leaving the practice of law.As I began growing Because of Zoe, many women asked how I did it.I found that helping women brought a joy to me unlike any other work that I had done before. After working with a few business owners I learned that my zone of genius was really helping women un-busy their business (and, by consequence, their lives too).I had done business on the busy wheel and once I implemented my framework and saw that success was even sweeter on the OTHER side of busy, I vowed to bring as many women on this side as I could.
What is something you would say to someone who is struggling in their first few years of business? Is there something you struggled with and learned from in those first few years?
Winning entrepreneurs think long-term.Avoid making short term decisions that give you a quick win today but cost you something that is of value in the long run.Run your own race and avoid comparison. And, first and foremost, know what it is YOU want (not what you think is expected of you from onlookers).
What hobbies, causes, or activities are you passionate about aside from your work?
Time well spent with myself, my children, my close friends, and family.Reading.Simple hikes with my family when the weather permits. Walking the aisles of TJ Maxx and Target if I'm being honest! ;-)
