I'm a women's entrepreneurial activist, empowering women to lead a life full of purpose through building their own business. I launched my branding agency after teaching myself graphic design and website development in college. A couple years after the branding agency I had built a community of female entrepreneurs from my clientele and I wanted them all to connect and that's when my "AHA" moment came. I wanted to launch a co-working space for female entrepreneurs in Detroit, something that didn't exist. Femology launched in 2017 as detroit's first and only female-focused co-working space.
What inspired you to start your business?
In college, I had 3 part-time jobs with a full load of classes and it was very tough to balance everything. I've always been a creative at heart and had a knack a solving problems so I thought about designing a life I wanted in college. I wanted more time, and more money. So, I started to think of things I was great at to turn it into a service. At that time, this word "branding" kept coming up. So I started beta testing my services and has 3 clients before I knew it. It grew organically from there from word of mouth and social media.
What is something you would say to someone who is struggling in their first few years of business? Is there something you struggled with and learned from in those first few years?
When there isn't a demand for your product or service, create the demand. Educate your client and customer like the expert you are.
What hobbies, causes, or activities are you passionate about aside from your work?
I absolutely love to travel internationally, which I started in 2017. Since I received my passport 2 years ago, I have been to Paris, Mexico, Trinidad, Russia, Tblisi and Dominican Republic. The travel bug is just getting started because I love to experience new people and cultures.
