What accomplishments would you like to share?
In my own personal wedding photography business ComePlum, since the beginning of this year, I’ve made it a goal to truly practice what I preach. So I’ve been working with my couples by telling them I will take a financial portion off their wedding package if they donate it to their favorite charity. The goal was to raise $6000 in 2018 and it’s only July and we are at $5500!
If you could tell your younger self something you’ve learned along the way, what would you say?
I’ve been a pretty Type A personality my whole life (like I organized my closet for fun as a kid) and am only now learning the immense benefits of chill vibes so I would simply say to younger me: be easy on yourself. sparkle.
What inspired you to become an event professional?
I was doing a photo fellowship in Kenya with the ethical wedding jewelry company Soko and much of my job was photographing the artisans in their workshops. In Kibera, the largest slum in East Africa, I was surrounded by the most visionary, hustle-minded artists who were creating exquisite brass earrings and necklaces and employing their family and neighbors in the process. I was initially scared to run my own business but seeing the bravery of these entrepreneurs inspired me to take the self-employed risk when I returned to San Francisco.
