What inspired you to start your business?
I could not imagine sitting behind a desk and working for a goal that I didn't believe in. It would have been so easy to continue working with my Biomedical Engineering degree and have a stable job, but I've found that you don't grow in comfortable places.
What is something you would say to someone who is struggling in their first few years of business? Is there something you struggled with and learned from in those first few years?
When I first took the leap of owning my own business, I had no idea where to start. I did all the research I could possibly do- watched youtube videos, read articles & talked to other business owners I looked up to. I didn't want to go into this with a "I know everything" mentality. I knew I needed help with my growth and knowledge in this industry. It just wasn't enough to have a creative eye.
For someone just starting out, I'd say invest in yourself and your craft. Do the research, set aside an hour everyday and perfect your craft, lean on those you can trust and are inspired by. It's so important to invest in yourself, because no one else will unless you do. Spend that extra couple hundred dollars and go to that workshop, send out that DM to your favorite business owner and ask if you can take them out for coffee or schedule a mentor session- there's so many resources!
What hobbies, causes, or activities are you passionate about aside from your work?
Coming from a family of immigrants that don't look like your average American, I'm extremely passionate about social justice. I often use my social media platform to spread the idea that there's beauty and so much to learn when you step outside of your bubble and listen to those that don't look like you or weren't raised in the same way. I'm passionate about getting us to a place where we're celebrated for our differences.
