I'm a creative director and I help aesthetically-driven brands tell their story with creative direction and powerful visual brand strategist. I do that with 1-on-1 consulting, done-for-you visual development and production services, and DIY solutions for creative brands.
What inspired you to start your business?
It's super cliche, but it was planning and styling my wedding. I was a lawyer before and I was burnt out and I realised I needed some creativity in my life and one day I left my job and never looked back!
What is something you would say to someone who is struggling in their first few years of business? Is there something you struggled with and learned from in those first few years?
Be patient and like a mentor said to me recently, "live like it's coming". I truly believe that no matter the industry you're in, whether you run your own business or work for someone, you have to 'pay your dues'. You have to start from the bottom and work your way up through training and experience. So be patient and put in the work. You can't skip steps. You can't not do the work. You can't skip the hard stuff. It goes hand in hand with real growth and experience. There's SO much value in taking baby steps and investing time and effort in your craft, not just the stuff that sells your craft. It's so easy to jump ahead five steps but if you can just stay put for a little and be patient, I promise it'll come together.
What hobbies, causes, or activities are you passionate about aside from your work?
I volunteer at my daughter's school, I used to play dodgeball competitively (true story), I'm passionate about my children so I make a conscious decision to donate to the Sydney Children's Hospital regularly and also do that for gifts as well as I know it means a lot to my friends and family as well.
