What inspired you to start your business?
My children inspired me to make a huge pivot in my life. After 10 years in a corporate job - I left my job in an ambulance and spent three (3) days in the hospital. I took a photo while laying in the hospital bed of my husband holding our baby and entertaining our toddler and I knew at that moment that I had to do something different and that there were so many other women in the same situation; we were stressed, overworked, and overlooked. It took me a while to find my confidence again - but I knew I wanted and needed to make a difference for my family and for other women. Supporting other creatives so they can be present for their families is extremely important to me and inspires me everyday to go beyond the norm.
What is something you would say to someone who is struggling in their first few years of business? Is there something you struggled with and learned from in those first few years?
During the first year of business - write out why you’ve chosen this path and those you want to serve. As you begin to see other influencers and entrepreneurs online posting - don’t become discouraged. Stay committed to the reasons you started your business and to the audience you want to serve. I still have days when I don’t feel like I’m making an impact and then suddenly I receive an unexpected message from someone saying they enjoyed my post or comment. So - people are always watching and they want to know you - so show them your most authentic self and it will pay off the most. I’d also recommend - finding a coach that is in the place you desire to be. This is extremely helpful because he or she can help you through areas where you may struggle. Learning from someone that has tactical strategies with proven outcomes will help you to reach your goals with less stress.
What hobbies, causes, or activities are you passionate about aside from your work?
I home school my children, which is another full-time job, but I love being able to have this time with my them. When the Arizona weather permits - I love hiking in the mountains and creating DIY crafts with my Cricut Maker.
